Steaming Through Berkhamsted
"Steaming Through Berkhamsted" This recently published book is a collection of b&w photographs taken by my grandad HC Casserley of the railways and locomotives in Berkhamsted 1938-1968 - The Golden era of steam, with a foreward by Paul Atterbury of Antiques Roadshow. HCC was one of the great Railway photographers of the Twentieth century beginning his life with the camera on the Southern Railway and moving to Berkhamsted in 1939 with his house being built within sight of the station in Castle Hill Close and positioned so that he could see both up and down the tracks. He had an official access pass to the track itself. He published over thirty books with a national railways theme but now his son, Richard Casserley, and granddaughter, Mary Casserley have collected together a selection of his previously unpublished Berkhamsted photographs and thus a book of HCC’s railway photographs of what became his and his wife’s home town. Richard is the guardian of his father’s huge photographic archive. Mary is a local artist and author who works in the art department of Berkhamsted School. Currently she is Chairman of the Local History Society, and this book is an historic record of one aspect of Berkhamsted life. The book is beautifully presented with a photograph on every page, professionally designed, 116 pages and printed on high quality art paper. You are buying direxct from the publishers, and each copy is signed by Mary as sadly Richard died just a few hours before the book arrived from the printers. The book measures: 23cm x 23cm. Softback, 124 pages. Printed in Great Britain.
