Ashridge House, Hertfordshire/Buckinghamshire occupies the site of a monastry founded in 1283. Later it became a Royal residence, passing to the Dukes of Bridgewater. The 13th c. crypt remains. The present house was re-built by James Wyatt and his son, Sir Jeffry Wyatville in the Gothic Revival style in 1808. It boasts a frontage of 1,000ft. The park and gardens were originally landscaped by 'Capability Brown' but the present layout is mainly the work of Repton and Wyatville.
