XR 1981 was one of just eight Aston Martin customer cars built in 1923. This four- cyclinder 1,486 cc side-valve engined long-chasis "Cloverleaf" bodied tourer came second at the Aston Hill Climb 100 years ago. To mark the centenary of its first competitive outing here "Cloverleaf" returned to be driven by three times Le Mans class winner Darren Turner.

Aston Hill, near Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire is the inspiration behind the name of the car company - Aston Martin- combining the name of the famous speed hill climb with the surname of one of the business founders. It was active 1903-1925,

showing in the distance is Ivinghoe Beacon and the Vale of Aylesbury
