Little Gaddesden, Ashridge, Hertfordshire

My painting shows the memorial cross and drinking fountain erected to the memory of Marian Alford. It is Grade II listed.

Marianne Margaret Egerton, Viscountess Alford, (1817-1888) generally known as Lady Marian Alford, was an English artist, art patron, and author. She was known for her work with the Royal School of Art Needlework. Her husband was Vicount Alford, and her son became the 2nd Earl Brownlow of Ashridge House She left money in her will to provide bags of sweets annually for the local children which is the theme of my painting. The fountain has three drinking water sources: for dogs, horses and children.
John 'O Gaddesdens house and the War Memorial are glimpsed to the LHS
Please note this painting is offered as already framed up at no extra cost.

I now offer the original artwork for sale direct from my studio in Tring, Herts. The originals are hand-painted painted using water-based Winsor & Newton professional gouache paint on Arboreta E.S. white drawing cartridge paper 160g/m2
