Flying Scotsman at Kings Cross 1923

Flying Scotsman was built in Doncaster, the first locomotive of the newly formed London and North Eastern Railway (LNER). It went into service on 24 February 1923 with number 1472. It was designed by Sir Nigel Gresley as part of the A1 class—the most powerful locomotives used by the LNER at that time. I have added in my grandfather H C Casserley to the painting. (standing behind Sir Nigel Gresley) He was a famous steam railway author and photographer

I now offer the original artwork for sale direct from my studio in Tring, Herts. The originals are hand-painted painted using water-based Winsor & Newton professional gouache paint on Arboreta E.S. white drawing cartridge paper 160g/m2
