Monsal Dale Viaduct Derbyshire Original Painting
Monsal Dale Viaduct Derbyshire Original Painting
Monsal Dale Derbyshire
Grade II listed. The Headstone Viaduct was built by the Midland Railway over the River Wye. The bridge, which stands near the 533-yard (487 m) Headstone Tunnel, is 300 feet (91 m) long. It had five 50-foot (15 m) span arches, some 70 feet (21 m) high at the centre. I based my painting on a B&W photograph taken by my grandfather HC Casserley who was a well-known railway historian and photographer, and also a life-long fan of the MR having relatives near Derby
I now offer the original artwork for sale direct from my studio in Tring, Herts. The originals are hand-painted painted using water-based Winsor & Newton professional gouache paint on Arboreta E.S. white drawing cartridge paper 160g/m2
