 The iconic Statue of J.M Barries` Peter Pan by Sir George Frampton was erected in Kensington gardens, London, in 1921. Around the statue are sculptured animals and birds that have delighted many generations of children. Berkhamsted`s link with Peter Pan is that J.M Barrie had befriended the five Llewelyn Davies boys who lived in the magnificent Elizabethan Manor `Egerton House` (now the site of the REX ) and visited them often. The boys, Peter, George, Nico, Michael, Jack and Michael were the inspiration behind the book
