The Red Rose was the nameof the service of the Express Train that ranfromLondon-Liverpool. Here is is shown in 1952 passing the Crystal Palace pub in Berkhamsted.

I have included myself ( the girl inthe red pullover) and my three siblings watching the train, even though we were not even born then! Our grandfather was the famous railway photographer/historianHCCasserley- so we grew up immersed in all things steam railway related! Grandads house was inBerkhamsted andoverlookd the railway line near the old derelict goods yard. Inthe 1970's we made camps in the goods yard and watched the trains hurtle by.
