The Rex Casablanca 1943 Berkhamsted Original Painting
The Rex Casablanca 1943 Berkhamsted Original Painting
The Art Deco Rex Cinema, Berkhamsted had only been open for 4 years when Casablanca was released in November 1942, and in January 1943 in the UK. My grandparents saw Casablanca at the Rex on 8th June 1943 as noted in grandads film log book. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman starred in this romantic, culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant drama. "Here's looking at you, kid"
I grew up going to the Rex in the 1970's. I remember people smoking inside, and watching the smoke rise into the beam of light.
I now offer the original artwork for sale direct from my studio in Tring, Herts. The originals are hand-painted painted using water-based Winsor & Newton professional gouache paint on Arboreta E.S. white drawing cartridge paper 160g/m2
